ABOUT

Welcome to the Integrated and Designated ELD in OUSD Blog!

This blog is dedicated to thinking about and sharing practices in support of Integrated and Designated ELD.

According to the 2012 California ELD Standards and the 2014 ELA/ELD Framework, Integrated ELD is the language instruction embedded in core content all day long, most often in whole class, heterogeneous groupings. Designated ELD is the focused language study that happens in proficiency level groupings, usually during a minimum protected 30 minutes a day.

Some of the posts you will see on this blog will be related specifically to Designated ELD, as in the case of the Systematic ELD blogposts. However, most of the strategies you see can be used in either Integrated or Designated ELD.

Try exploring the most recent posts, the most popular posts, or working by tab at the top of the page to zero in on what you are most interested in.

And please do comment!

A big thanks to all the OUSD teachers who make this blog possible with their incredible talent, persistence and relentless hard work.

Sincerely,
Mike Ray
ELD Coordinator for OUSD
